There is something special about the love sweat and tears that goes into something which has been handmade. We came across the beautiful work of Margeux from Willowynn Textile Art via her Etsy store a few month’s ago.Margeaux drafts and crafts a range of beautiful toys and dolls from her sunny studio in the Byron Bay Hinterlands.
As a former park ranger Margeux is inspired by the beauty of nature and is particularly drawn to owls, snails, moths, foxes, rabbits and whales.
What we love about her creations the most is that they are crafted from re-purposed materials like flannelette sheeting, curtains and wool tweed, much like many of the toys from yester-year. Margeaux prefers using fabric that is old or discarded as she says that there is an air of history and romance in that. Her animals have a realistic look while still being endearing to the little ones.We were privileged to have Margeaux make us a gorgeous flannelette bunny doll for our little girls nursery. These dolls are perfect for babies and toddlers as the have no removable parts and are the perfect size for them to hold in their grasp.
Each piece is made to order and takes approximately 3 weeks to hand-craft, which means each doll is made especially for its new owner. You can even have your piece customised, just for you.
Margeaux’s cloth doll has been nominated for an Etsy Design Award in the Home and Living Category. Be sure to click here vote for this beautiful doll for your chance to win a $100 Etsy Voucher. Voting closes the 20th August.
