Splurge and Save Christmas Table

Putting together a luxe looking Christmas table is all about choosing where to splurge and where to save. We are currently loving rust, pink and gold tones so used these colours as the main theme for our table.

Table swag

Fresh flowers can be expensive so we stuck with greenery for our table swag which was made with fresh magnolia leaves, wired onto rope. We tried to show off the lovely rust underside of the leaves to by wireing them in upside down. For a for a pop of metallic  we sprayed some of the leaves with gold spray and placed them in last. The best thing about this swag is that it will dry so you can make it before the big day and even reuse for future events

Cutlery + Crockery

The warehouse and Kmart were perfect for crockery and cutlery in these on trend tones. We used gold charger plates from the warehouse, blush placements, bowls, plates and brass toned cutlery  were all from Kmart.

the linen napkins were from Wallace Cotton from a few years back but they still sell similar natural linen styles as do Father Rabbit

Place Settings

We bought hessian bags and kraft tags from the dollar store and filled these with Lindt balls (Splurge). The gold tree decorations came in a pack of four from the warehouse. Christmas crackers were bought at the end of last year from Farmers when they went on sale.

Finishing touches

What kind of Christmas would it be without champagne! we splurged on the Moet and saved on the gold bucket which was also from the Warehouse.

Our centre piece was a gorgeous SOH candle ‘Collins Street’ which we sat on an old iron candle stick.

Parcels were wrapped in kraft paper and assorted twine and hessian ribbon from the dollar store. We added in gold spray painted sprigs and leaves for decoration. All the parcels were stashed in our gorgeous XL Uashmama bag from Crave home.

Peace, Love and Pineapples

Every year we theme our Christmas lunch table, this year the theme was Peace, Love and Pineapples. We kept the traditional Christmas sentiments of Peace and Love and added a tropical twist with pineapple vases filled with lilies, delphiniums and bells of island.

To bring in the peace element we cut plywood peace signs out with a jigsaw and also made gingerbread peace cookies to adorn the leafy vintage plates.

Our Bonnie & Neil runner tied in the natural wood of the table and created the perfect base for our pineapple vases.

We made our own crackers to tie in the magenta and orange colour palette and filled them with chocolate treats for the boys and jewelled bracelets for the girls.

On the menu was glazed Christmas ham, new potatoes, green salad and toasty rolls, washed down with our favourite Petit Syrah, Caravan.

Stay tuned for how we created out pineapple centrepiece arrangements.
