blog us
We thought it was about time we re-introduced ourselves for all our new blog followers. We’re Ses and Jen, a Mother and Daughter who share a passion for amazing interiors, fab fashion and a love for turning our homes into havens. Ses + Jen was created as an outlet to share what’s inspiring us, looks were loving and amazing finds from all over the globe.

Jen lives at the beach in a 1950s bach and takes her inspiration from the seashore loving lots of natural textures and a laid-back beach vibe. Ses loves art & colour with her home a collection of special pieces constantly being rearranged and added to.

We’re constantly refreshing our homes and changing things up. We love the buzz you get from painting a wall, upcycling a vintage find or transforming the whole look of a room simply by adding new cushions.

Deck the Halls with Ses + Jen

This year’s Christmas theme was inspired by our favourite ‘For like Ever’ print, with its combo of soft peachy pink and red, it was a perfect twist on a traditional Christmas colour scheme. We’re all about working with what you’ve got and giving it a new twist. This year we decided to drape our copper lights around the art rather than the tree.

Styling by Ses + Jen web treeWhen it came to dressing the tree, which is a matt black – we knew we wanted to incorporate a natural element. After scouring the stores with no luck we decided to make our own decorations that tied in our peachy pink and copper theme. We bought 20 kaiserwood stars from Spotlight for about $3.50 each, a roll of copper beading wire and a tube of copper paint. The peachy pink was left over from our painted antler project earlier in the year.

DIY by Ses + JenAfter masking the stars through the centre, we painted two coats of metallic copper and peachy pink on one half of the stars. Once the paint was dry we removed the tape, then using a hot glue gun, attached the hooks made from the copper wire. These decorations could easily be made with any shape or paint colour, we love how the natural wood is still a feature.

We’d love to see how you’ve decorated your home for Christmas, jump over to instagram and hashtag #sesandjenchristmas to share your pics with us (ensure your account is public so wee can have a peep).

A Tuckey Christmas

We’re massive fans of Australian artisan and furniture maker Mark Tuckey, so when we came across these gorgeous images from their Christmas shoot a couple of years ago, we had to share. We loved their wooden tree dressed with tassles and the gorgeous shots of the Tuckey family. The setting for this shoot the home of Mark, wife Louella and their two girls. Their beachside home on Sydney’s northern beaches has featured in a many a home feature with its unique black and white façade.
