Jen first introduced me to Mama Loco a couple of years back after it featured in ArchitectureNow magazine. Never have I been so inspired by an eatery, it gave me those design inspired goose-bumps that are hard to describe. I just wanted everything! from the skull cut-out Cape cod chairs to the full wall mural. The colour explosion that is Mama Loco just works, and two or so years on it still inspires me.
Mama Loco is the work of ‘Best’ design award winner Rachael Lovelace of Lovelace & Co in collaboration with Anna Wilcock of Awilaway Design. The brief was to create a ‘modern interpretation’ on what Mexican meant to New Zealanders, and boy have they done that!
These leaf skeleton chairs caught my eye on a recent visit, they looked awesome rugged up for winter with a selection of sheepskins, definitely need a couple of these for my deck this summer.

Did I mention the food? DEVINE, delicious pulled pork tacos, slushy margaritas and much more! This place is definitely worth a visit, fab food and incredible interiors – you really can’t ask for more!
